replaced the dang gasket
Folks I got the intake gaskets replaced and the truck runs great. No more miss or freaky idle. Hell I even had to relearn how to take off from a stop light since it's so quiet and smooth now.
Oh I did manage to snap the EGR tube while trying to adjust it but my neighbor had some stainless and he made me a block off plate into the plennum so I could drive to work. The other end is still open where it attaches to the head.
So now two questions.
1) I smell gas, alot. I haven't found any leaks yet and I'm hoping it's a combination of the gas that spilled EVERYWHERE when I pulled it apart and that open EGR thingy.
2) This morning when I went to start it I had to bump it twice before it would fire up and am unsure why.
Thanks again for all the help!!!

You may be leaking at the injector to rail junction. This is a common problem when you pull the rail off. If it does not sit right the injector will sit on an angle. When it is running look down around the injectors. The 2 bumps to start also points to a leak in the fuel system.
