Repairing/cleaning up heater resistors?
I pulled out the heater resistor today for my rear heater on my 86 4runner and it looks like this:

The coils are all intact but the white cement on them is cracked at one of the coils and there's a lot of green fuzz at the solder joint.
My questions are:
1) If the coils are all there, can the white cement be repaired? Is it's purpose simply to keep them from contacting eachother? If so, can jb weld be used?
2) I've never had power going into the resistor. Where does it feed from? Does it have it's own relay? The front heater works fine.
3) I don't have an owner's manual so I am curious if the front heater has to be on for the rear to work or do they work independently?
Thanks!

i dont see why u couldnt us it on the cement part to hold it back in place to make sure they dont touch, as for the green fuzz just a small wire brush and lightly clean it off. not 100 percent but i would think that the fuse box by the passenger side behind the glove box would be powering the heater switch, did u check those fuses?
