Removed my cracked clutch bracket, and found the dash support was cracked too...

On my 1991 4runner the clutch bracket was cracked. After I pulled it off I noticed that the support that is welded on to the bottom of the dash that the clutch bracket bolts to cracked as well. When I say cracked I mean completely broken, and its welded onto the body or dash. Has anyone else had this problem? this has turned into a real nightmare... I don't even know how to fix it besides welding or pop riveting it.

the same thing happened to my dads 89 p/u. He made a bracket for it and connect the clutch bracket to firewall.

Was it just your main bracket that cracked, or the upper dash mounting support too?

Happened to me as well. I got the bracket at the pedal welded at a local shop for their $15.00 minimum and I removed the cowl cover drilled two hole and made stiffening brackets, bolted the whole thing together and covered it all with silicone caulk to prevent leaks. Did this over a year ago and it still works fine. I am 6'1 and weigh 350# I put a lot of force into the pedal, enough to break it, but it has stayed put since this shadetree repair. Hope it helps

Had this happen to me, and did almost exactly the same repair, minus the welding (sheet metal screws). I took off the vented cowl piece and actually cut a small hole in the sheet metal where the spot welds broke. Made my own bracket and used sheet metal screws to secure it to the body. Heavy plastic stuck to the body with black roofing mastic sealed up the hole, and will never be seen through the vents, so aesthetics were never an issue. Did all that without removing the pedal bracket or anything under the dash. Still going strong at least 5-6 years.

I'm in the process of making a new bracket support for the upper dash support above the clutch pedal on the clutch bracket but I'm debating between weather or not making it shaped like the old one because I don't have much surface area to drill into since the old metal ripped out when I tried to drill out the spot welds on the old support.
