reed valve? i thought reed valves were only found on 2-stroke motors, such as dirtbikes/atvs. i'm not sure about that, but i'm sure someone on here will have some kind of info to help ya out...

Actually some of the engines incorporate a reed valve in the Emissions controls , I will follow this thread because I am interested in removing mine as it appears to be part of the EGR function by looking at the routing on my truck , I see that it is vacumn modulated and feeds exhaust gases back to the VAFM housing via hose and hardline under the upper intake and I am in search of its theoretical function in reference to the motors function/emissions use.

Its located behind the engine on the passenger side. considering where its located, i would hate to have to take that thing out. Here's more info on it:

Thanks for that link , I didn't see that in the FSM so I guess I need to look a bit harder next time .
So per the diagram all that thing does is introduce intake air into the exhaust - its a ding dang undercover smog pump lol , so by that its life is short now
Now I just need to identify that smaller line going to the silencer box to see if I can delete that also but trying to trace today it seemed like it goes to the passenger side valve cover like a second PCV , have to verify that because if that is the case the I will delete reed valve but leave smaller hose connected to breather for PCV purposes .

Just curious but why exactly would you remove all the emission controls?

Might want to search instead of bumping a 5 year old thread considering this has really nothing to do with removing emissions.
