Hi!
Got some issues in the rearend on my 2door 90 22re, hope someone can shed some light..

When going highway speeds and the pedal down, she runs smooth and really nice. when letting up on the gas, there is vibrations coming from the rear, I can feel the seat vibrating. Small vibrations, just a little brrrrrrrrrrr from the back.

i have very little play in the rear U-joint, nothing in the front, but can turn the driveshaft 2-3 cm. I guess this is the play in the diff.. Doesn't feel like anything is very sloppy or worn.

Vibrations persist whith clutch depressed.

Should i look into the differential, spidergears etc, or stick with some new U-joints and hope thats it?

The Vibes have sort of crept in there, so I dont believe it's anything bent, but after 348 000 there for sure is some wear issues..

I am also having the rear wheels off to look at brakes, could there be some bearings etc that needs attention while in there?

I'd change the u joints first. There cheap and easy to replace and at 300+ thousand kms there probably due anyway.

I'm sure it wouldn't hurt.
But they are nice and tight, actually exagerated a bit on the play in the gear there also, it's deceptively tight for something that makes that much of a presence at high speeds..

Well, offcourse, a pair of new u-joints sorted it out...
Them caps were a PITA to get out, looks like the yokes were a bit scored from last time someone was in there. Angle grinder cut them out, no problem!

take you rear drive line off, put it in 4wd and see if it does it.. sounds like a driveline issue (either u joints or bent driveline)

Is the pinon loose at all? My truck does this and it needs a new pinon bearing, grab where the driveshaft connects to the third member and pull on it, see if there's any play.
