I've been perusing this site plus many others on this subject. My springs are near flat and I've been putting this off for almost a year now...it's time. I'm going to be carrying nothing in the bed most of the time and sometimes a bunch of music equip and other odds n'sods once in a while. This is my DD and in a year or so plan on new tires, mild lift, winch and bumpers. I've priced out rearching which was $280cdn and that includes AAL and they do the install(I can't cause I just got out of back surgery). But then I'm looking at downey's for $200 and even though they have a 2" lift it seems like a good deal. I'm aware that there is the likelyhood of the rearched springs to sag again in the near future but is it really that bad? Also, my tires are stock size 225/75/15 Dunlop Rover XT so if I went with Downey would a mild lift look stupid (I may level it with BJ spacers if I go that route)? I won't be wheeling offroad for the next couple months because of my back so that's not an issue unfortunately so performance so to speak shouldn't be a factor. Any advice, opinions or info. appreciated. Thanks. Oh ya forgot too while I'm posting...anyone know much about those Mile Marker manual hubs that Downey has?

I would buy the OME (Old Man EMU) Medium duty springs.


I have the OME Heavy Duty Springs on my truck and they are outstanding springs considering they are a little on the stiff side. Put a fridge or some camping gear in the bed and she rides like a dream.

Do the OME's provide any lift or are they close to stock? From what I remember in my research they're quite a bit more $ eh? I'm just looking to get throught the next year or two the cheapest but safest way (I know shackles are cheap but I do want some suspension!). Thanks.

But even if they were, they are worth every penny.

As far as "lift" they are stock ride height - at least my HD's are. But they would be a lift for you if you are replacing the saggy stock springs. So at least you'll level the truck out to where it should be if you have a stock suspension and these trucks look way way better if the rear sits just slightly higher than the front (in my opinion) which these springs should do if you don't/haven't touched your torsion bars.

I don't think/know if this site carries the exact ones to fit your truck though - make sure you confirm the specific part #'s and the fact they will fit your truck when you order them or whatever. I just posted this as a ballpark idea to give you some ideas for prices and what to expect.

Well, that's not too bad $. I'll look into it more tomorrow...guess they're better than Downey's from what I've read but I'm still debating...damn choices!

I thought I heard somewhere that some downey springs sag (maybe it was their coils?) overtime but I could be wrong (don't consider it fact - maybe more along the lines of hearsay right now - do a search).

On all of my yota's I have ran OME stuff, I say, if they got what works, I would go for it.

downey leafs bring the suck after like 2yrs. they road as ruff as add-a-leafs. Go OME!! and if you want "some" lift, get longer shackles.

I just had mine rearched about a month and a half a go. Can?t say how long it will last but for the money I am very happy. Had mine done at a local spring shop they re-arced and replaced a broken leaf on each side and added an extra leaf for a bit of lift. Not to stiff and it only cost me 190.00 cdn. installed and that included new u bolts and plates.
