Rear window won't go down all the way

I know this has been posted to death...when it's not working at all. I can't find it ANYWHERE with my problem. My window goes down like a champ...for an inch. Goes up just as easily. But I can't get it to go down any farther. I've pulled the panel off and can see everything...I don't see any obvious jams there...the rails holding the window are rusty as is everything else in there, but it doesn't appear to be rotted out. Is there a way to open the door and by pass the lock? Seems like it'd be so much easier to see what was going on if I could see in the hole and roll the window up and down. I see most of how the mechanism works, and pull up on that little pin so that it thinks it's not locked, but then it still doesn't open the latches. Tried pulling on them from the inside too to see if that could get them to open...no luck there either. SO...suggestions?

with the key in the back and turned to bring the window down trying pressing on the top of the window to see if you can help it. There are limit switches inside that might be broken and fouling so not letting the motor turn further. The window has to be down for the latches to release

ya I tried that...had one before that had that problem. No this one absolutely will not go down no matter how much effort is put on the glass. So these limit switches...where are they, and how can I tell if they are bad? And can I bypass them?

Well, first thought it is the motor is working (obviously) and the window just stops, is you have some gears sheared off on the mechanism.

As for getting the door open so you can work...... lots of ways to attack it.

see if you can manipulate the cables to each side, easiest way to bypass the mechanism. best to have 2 people so the tailgate doesn't swing down and shatter your window.

I pulled a whole mechanism out while starting out with a junked runner, no battery, window all the way up. I can't for the life of me remember how I did it. Sorry, Dayquil amnesia, lol.

Hopefully some other folks can chime in with alternative methods.

If this is a first gen runner...part of the mechanism blocks the lock plunger from moving, sometimes you can get this to to move manually from the mechanism, alas I don't have a pic from when I was fixing it, but I had to manually manipulate the lock plunger enough to pull the tailgate handle.

If your sitting in the back looking at the mechanism there you should be able to move the plunger back and forth a couple times to see the mechanism im talking about.
