1987 pickup. 4x4. Anyone ever fabricated a rear well liner? Is there a template somewhere or somewhere a guy could score one?

Would be simple enough to do with some rubber or plastic sheet and a few screws, I do have to ask what you think you stand to gain though? I doubt you'll find a template of any kind anywhere.

I'm sick of all the nooks and crannies just chocked full of mud. Takes a good 30 min to clean it all off. A liner would cut down tremendously and would help preserve the bed which is so rust prone.

I was wondering if anyone had done it. If I do it, I'll make a template and share.

I've never had issues keeping my wheel wells clean. With liners it will make it even more difficult, how do you get behind the liner? Mud, dirt and water will still get there while driving, but now you can't wash it off.

And for the love of your toyota, do not use screws into the sheet metal to hold it in place. They will cause rust that you won't be able to control or stop. Thats why I don't have front fender liners in my truck, they cause rust. Your probally better off to find a car wash that has pressure washers with directionable nozzles.

Uh, I don't even know how to respond.

The liner keeps the mud out of the wheel well and bed sides. The area from the cab to the wheel then from there back to the rear roll pan is just caked with crud. A liner keeps that from happening. My two Ram 2500's have them. Work awesome. Also, who would screw a liner into sheet metal? Come on, man. Give me more credit than that.

The rears would be better off having liners like the fronts.

Source them from a salvage yard, they're standard equipment on the 2wd's. Probably even on 4wd I imagine they get pulled for extra "stuff" room. You could always get up in there with a vinyl(stock underliner) or rubber bed liner. using an undercoat or liner would be the way to go, in my mind, Gives the best of both worlds no rubbing easy to hose off no nooks and crannys to catch mud. Aslong as your running offroad large tread tires you won't be flinging any rocks up there, so vinyls just as good as the rubber type.

I think JC Whitney sells them new, though I'm not entirely sure. You could try local junkyards for a clean set of them.. Have you considered rubber lining, Line X, Herculiner, etc? I've heard that it works pretty well.

Bedliner? That would be worse. My undercarriage is coated with POR-15.

Something to BLOCK the mud.
