Rear Shock Mounts - 89 Pickup

Hey guys,

I'm currently in the process of doing some repairs to my chassis, and preparing to coat it with POR-15.

While I'm at it, I've decided to do a rear lift (Trail-Gear 3" lift), but in the process of taking everything apart today, I ran into an issue whereby I have snapped off the two bolts which hold on the shock on the driver's side (the threaded portion is still in the mount).

I've done some looking around, and everyone seems to suggest angling them to the center, etc. But are there options for me to replace my factory mounting points and utilize those? Mostly concerned with the upper mounts as it seems that the kit comes with new lower mounts.

Any help appreciated - thanks!

You might still be able to buy new shock mounts from the dealer

I bought some awhile back. .

Then you could make your own if you have the needed skills.

Just round bar stock threaded welded to a piece of flat stock.

Time wise always faster to just buy new ones.

The mounts just weld to the top of the frame

When they get angled inward its to gain articulation usually. There are both shock mount kits and u-bolt flip kits that have them. Top is usually mounted to a crossbar. Bottom is also a welded on mount vs stock ones off the ubolt plate. Personally I'd install a double shear mount on both ends as opposed to a single shear mounting point.
