Rear Pinion Seal Replacement

Mine is definitely going out. I looked under it today after i got back from wheeling.

There was a fairly large puddle of oil, and the bottom of the diff is covered in oil.

And another headache, after getting the oil changed in the engine, i noticed a drop from underneath it now. I'm hoping it's rear half-moon and not my rear-main.

Anyways, is the rear pinion seal hard to change?

Searched, no threads about it.
Found the 4crawler one though.
Doesn't matter, my breather thingy was clogged with mud and gunk.
And my valve cover wasn't as tight as it could have been, so i'm leak free as of today.

yep, i looked through my FSM.

It's pretty simple, but like i said, i drove her around for 30 mins with an unclogged breather and no more leaky.

I'm surprised you were leaking out of the pinion seal and not your axle seals (at the wheels) .. Which usually is where the pressure escapes (clogged breather).

Might check your drums.

You should still fix it where it was leaking.

i'll wait a few weeks, if it continues to leak i'll just pop a new one in.
if it doesn't then i'm not gonna worry about it.
and i think my engine leak was related to overfilling...

WAIT!!! HOLD THE TRAIN!!!

I think I know what's really going on with that.

I tried clicking the link while I was "logged out", got the message you got(no matches).

Try logging in, then clicking that link, or repeating the search.

Sorry, I hadn't ever noticed that, news to me too.

yeah but i am logged in, lol.
hence the reason i'm able to write messages xD

Doesn't matter, all those threads i saw before.
The two with the exact same name aren't a writeup. The one that the oil is pouring out of isnt a writeup either, but it did tell me about the diff breather.

Like i said, i found 4crawlers guide so it's all good.
