rear heater hoses (which is in and out?)

I have a rear heater/fan out of a 4runner that I want to put in the back of a pickup for extra heat... there are 2 hoses... in the following picture can you tell me which is the 'in' hose and which is the 'out' ... and if you are really helpful where they would lead on the engine

I could be wrong, someone please chime in if so, but I dont think it matters. It just circulates through the heater core, dont think there are any flow valves or oneway's in it.

I second that. It just goes in, heater core absorbs the heat, and the coolant flows out.

I don't think it makes a difference, but just connect so the rubber lines go straight from the hard lines to the heater:
