rear end code

hey, im planning om putting a locker in my rearend, i have a 88 shortbo 4x4 and a 86 also. Im trying to find out what code or i.d i need to tell what the gear ratio is. I wanted to build the one out of the 86' why im driving with the one i have now til i get it done. Should it swap over??

i found that both the 86 and 88 i have are 4.10's so i plan on setting up a 3rd member off the 86. Does anyone have suggestions on a locker?? I drive 100mi round trip every day durng the week and on the weekends i have fun with it. I have heard about the lsd,s in supras, ive heard about the lockrights, arb, detroit... Im looking for something thats in the middle i guess. Id like to stay around $500 with parts and go from there as far as having it set up.

Have checked out the Grizzly locker at marlin crawlers? It is under 500 bucks, and is light and small.
