rear disc brake research, keeping the e-brake idea

I have a set of 1st gen v6 brake calipers, master cylinder/brake booster, and rotors sitting on my work bench at home.

after I rebuild them I am going to swap them into the front of my 87 4runner.

then I will have a set of 4cyl calipers/rotors.
I also have an extra rear axle with drums.

I was sitting around chatting with some car guys about how to keep the e-brake.

there was 2 ideas.

(1) more of a cheat/workaround. set up one of the rears with disc brakes, and the other keep with drums. put the disc brake ends (don't know what to term them) onto the axle and hook up/bleed the brake lines, undo the ebrake cable and secure them to the axle such that they are there, but won't fall, etc. when it's time to go get an inspection done switch out the disc brake rear with the drum rear, rehook up the ebrake cable, go get inspected and switch back later that same day.

but the even better Idea is:

(2) get a clutch master cylinder ($12 new), mount it down near where the rear ebrake cable connects to the L thing (where the front and rear cables meet up, it's a lever). figure out a way to adapt the lever to puch on the cylinder when the handbrake is pulled (or make a lever). then plumb it inline with the brakelines going to the rear brakes.

lots of people have done this on normal vehicles, but unless they are drifting, they usually have to order a self-locking lever. The toyota handbrake is a self-locking lever, the cable alreaady goes to a lever, if a mounting bracket can be fabbed to hold a (clutch) master cylinder, then regular braking would be maintained, and ebrake would still operate with rear disc brakes.
