It's a 1993 toy p/u 22re 4x4
When I went to take off the nut to get to pinion the seal, it was very easy to take off. I read about how your suppose to turn it back to where it was so you do t mess anything up.
I feel like the po didn't tighten it correctly or is it suppose to be that loose? Mines the 8"

I have tightened many up to 120,130, even 140 foot pounds without changing the pinion bearing preload any.

If your 3rd member is sound, you should not worry, just torque her down. Anything over 90fp should suffice. As I recall thats the torque spec on tranny/transfer case yokes.

The pinion nut should also be staked so that it doesn't loosen up.

I probably should of got a new nut but I just staked it in a different spot cause the other spot was crappy where it was staked before.
I haven't any leaks and it doing fine so far.
