Hello ALL
Been playing with toyota wiring for a few days now.
Found and replaced water intrusion in the wiring along drivers side floor board.

1988 toyota 4runner 22re 5spd dlx.

......QUICK QUESTION......
WHATS a normal RESISTANCE measurement of the rear defrost grid?
I know it will vary, but some averages would be great!
My service manual tells me everything but that.
It now says to replace rear window at the last step of diagnosis path...

Just trying to get this ONE last thing back up and running in my 4runner
and I have Power + Gnd like I am directed by FSM.... but NO heating

Test for broken leads?
I was able to resurrect mine with repairs to 2 wires with the paste -
check + wire where it connects to the glass? If broken ...then it's fubared.
Fyi -new rear glass is $700 or more

I have no rear defrost either. I went through the fuse and the switch, and started taking the rear door apart when it started snowing really hard. Sucks not having a garage.
Anyways, I also have no light when I press the defrost button (which is why I thought it might be the switch).
Anyways, any tips would be great. Like maybe the next place I should look into.
I'm a newbie, and want to take as little apart as possible due to the cold weather and snow etc.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

never got any further info from the boards
I will say that I solved my issueS

first I had NO sitched signal into the relay from dash switch
Signal wire was cut under plastic foot well trim

Second there was NO B+ to the rear window control module
Located behind the drivers side, rear seat, side panel....
Its switched into the module for window location (full UP+Down)

Found I had proper power and GND from relay to rear window connections
thats when I started the thread..


Further testing showed i had a voltage drop of near 10 volts from relay to the rear window.
Replaced that wire
ALL is well for now

Yeah no . I'm in Salt Lake City, and there is tooooo much salt.
So, I guess I just have to keep following this wire. I guess I'll check under he driver side foot well. Its by the door right?
Maybe that'll do the trick.
