Rear axle is leaking, have important question.
This is the thread that I read about how to replace the inner oil seal.

I'm wondering if the oil seal posted Timken #1960 at AutoZone is the same
as the one in my 85' axle. I'm assuming it is but wanted to make sure before
I got started and found out that they are different.

A little off topic... but Marlin has some hew axle seals designed to work better than OEM. I just put some in the front axle on my 4Runner and was impressed with the quality and design.
Probably a bit more money with shipping and all... just thought I'd throw them out there.

They are the same seals. #1960 at VatoZone and Oreilly. Oreilly had them, VatoZone didn't.
I thought about the marlin crawler rebuild but the leak was so bad that I had to do it now. Gear oil was all
over my brakes and in the fender well and was making a puddle everywhere I parked overnight. I plan on
getting the rebuild soon. I need new bearings too. Just need to find a place that has a press.
