Rbig's 86 fix up then a question

Some before pics- Little rough but zero rust, and only 170 miles on her.

Now if I could ask you all a question. Last thing before the Texas heat heats is starting from scratch on getting the A/C working.

I have confirmed it is empty of R12. However, as I go through this I am going to confirm the compressor works by sending 12 volts directly to it. BUT... I have noticed that the light on the dash does not go on when pressed. Now I know if it is empty the low pressure switch keep the compressor from turning on but will it also keep the light off? I have checked the a/c fuse by the heater fuse and relay. Should I be checking other relay's etc? Don't want to seal it up and fill it if electrical problem exists. Thank you

Very nice, I love it. Especially the interior. What engine does it have? and are you planing on swapping out the instrument cluster for the SR5 version?

Thanks. It was a lot of work. The interior was a mess. No side panels anywhere except the front doors. I made a set for the rear and found a used pair for rear seat passenger area that dyed blue. Added seat covers, and carpet in the rear area. Might do the cluster one day but right now concentrating on the A/C system.

My a/c light comes on whether i have the compressor plugged in or not. the light could be burnt out. the wire just engages the clutch on the compressor, when a/c is turned on. I installed a newer compressor on my runner last summer and put in R132. so far it has worked great.

Try to adjust the little screw with the + - in the a/c amplifier behind the glove box, on mine it was adjusted too low so the compressor wouldn't work, just make sure you have freon in the system.
