Rattling and other noises
I haven't had a chance to really check it out, but the 4runner is making some funny noises now. I hate living in an apartment, once the sun goes down I can't do anything because I have no light.
Anyways...For a while now, when I'm in nuetral or have the clutch pressed in, it will make a somewhat of a rattling noise. My first thought was throw out bearing, but I'm not sure.. Now it's making a noise or two while driving also, and it's annoying...Everything still works fine, shifts fine, runs fine, drives fine but the noises are driving me nuts. It's hard to explain exactly what it sounds like, maybe tomorrow I'll make a quick video while I'm driving and let you guys listen to it. I wish my lady knew how to drive manual so I could have her drive it and I could listen to it from the outside..I'm having a hard time pinpointing the noise/rattling while I'm driving..Soo..Any general ideas? Hopefully I'll have a little bit of time to check things out tomorrow and it would be nice to have a couple ideas of what I'm looking for before the sun goes down.

rear dif maybe???
weekend job... pull it and check out whats wrong... plus its always good, according to ZUK, to pull it periodically and tighten the carrier bearing preload and pinion pre load...
for writeups on how to remove the third, check out matt16's that he did, and info on tightening the pre loads, check www.gearinstalls.com

Well..Had the fiance just push it slowly back and forth while I was under there and found it was the front u-joint on the driveshaft. I should have taken a picture of it, thing was destroyed. Pulled the driveshaft and went ahead and replaced both ujoints..All seems well now, much better.
