Raise my 4runner a little bit higher...
Ok, I know that this question has been asked alot, I did use the search function and found alot of information but my question is vehicle specific!
I have a 89 4runner 4wd IFS with a 22re, stock gearing. I won't SAS it, it's my daily drive and I just do easy trails. ;P
I'd like to raise the truck higher a few inches (i'm already lifted 2 inches, would like 2-3-4 more inches) without investing in a SAS or IFS lift. What options are left for me ?
Here's my current specs :
- 33x9.5x15 tires
- 2" body lift
- rear end sag!!
- I would not put a taller body lift because I can see enough frame!
- I heard 35's and IFS don't like each other, is that true ?
- Ball joint spacers, are they any good ?
- Torsion bar crank - I think the previous owner did crank them, never checked them.
- I was planning on getting my leaf springs bent and add a new leaf for each side
- Longer shackles
It seems easier to lift the rear end but I'm short on ideas on how to lift the front end without investing in a suspension lift.

Well you were right it has been asked many times...
Well what I would do is install the BJ spacers and ease up on the bars a bit. This will lift you and keep things from rubbing apart (hopefully). As for the rear get new springs or yes rebend and add. I think I'd get new and larger springs for the rear instead of re-bending.
From the looks you really don't need a whole lot of lift in the front.

I'd go with BJ spacers and longer shackles.
However, I can't see why you'd need to go any higher. It looks great as is. And the way I see it, if you're not doing stuff that's difficult enough to merit a SAS, it's probably doesn't require 35's either.

Thanks bob and lumpy. The reason I want to lift it a little bit is that I think it could look a little bit more aggressive a few inches higher. You are right about the 35s.
I think I will re-bend my leafs, add a new one each side, a little longer shackles and BJ spacers.

Anytime...Like I said the front looks good now but you can tell the rear is a bit saggy. I think when you get the BJ spacers and you relax the bars you will be a lot happier. Good luck and I want to see pic's when your done.

You can get OME rear leaf springs for $100 each, 2" of lift, stock rate.
Do a 1.5" BJ lift on the front, that got me 2" of lift at the rim.
If you rebend the stock springs, you are probably going to have them sag out on you again in a short period of time.
I have th OME's in the rear of mine, 1.5" BJ spacers in the front. This weekend I am going to put in a 3/4" body lfit. I have an ARB Bull Bar and the bar that crosses over the lights limits how high I can go with a body lift. I want to be able to remove my grill without taking the bumper off, so, 3/4" of will get me there.

I'd say go with 1.5" BJ spacers in the front (after you relax the T-bars back to stock height) and add a set of coils to the rear. It's called a Zuk mod.

I will go with the following :
-1 ½ Ball joint spacers
-Replace the leaf springs with better which will give me at least 2" lift

This is such a contentious subject, particularly since the OP already has a 2" body lift and is looking for 2-5 inches more lift. For practicality's sake, suspension lift is the best way to go- i.e.: it won't impact anything over what's already installed. But if ball joint spacers are part of the lift package to be installed, larger tires than those already installed are out of the question if the OP doesn't want to risk them rubbing.

For now I will go with the following :

Looking for new tires, I will go 33x12.50x15 !

Believe it or not I think my build is actually done. Right now it does everything I need it to without any issues.
