Radiator info needed.
I am in the market for a new radiator and would like some input. I contacted 1800radiator via phone and got two options for my 94 4x4 pickup with the 22re /manual transmission. 1st option was a copper and brass 3 row /core for $236. and the 2nd option was for a 1 row /core plastic and aluminum model. Both units carry a lifetime warranty and I believe the price includes delivery. I don't think there is an additional core charge. Now I would just slap in the 3 core copper and brass unit, but I have a couple questions. Will a 3 core interfere with the fan and is that the max size /cores that you can utilize? What are some affordable companies you have used to replace your radiator? I thought about some of the local parts stores like Autozone, but haven't priced them there yet. Thanks for the help.

The 3 core will not interfere. I have a 3 core rad in my truck with a 22re. Paying $236 for it would be dumb tho.
Check the local wrecking yards 1st. Check c-list also.
I have never bought a new radiator for any of my yotas so I can't steer you in the right direction for best price.

i just bought one from Radiatorbarn for 236.00 that is a three core, i found other reviews on YT that stated this was a great radiator, and they fit fine. one thing i have against the junk yards is you don't know what your getting, radiator cores go bad over time depending on how they are maintained; therefore, they could be garbage and you'd be in the same place. My old radiator was an orignal toyota and was clogged due to the previous owner letting it sit for a few years with.

You could even find one from some random vehicle that is about the same size with the fittings in around the same spot and make it work.
All depends on how handy you are.

if you're looking for extra cooling and capacity you can easily put in the V6 radiator in and as added bonus its really easy to take the alternator in and out with out dropping a coolant line

You have a point. But if you don't need your truck right away, if its a second vehicle, even going through a couple junkyard rads would be cheaper.

Well if you can find a good rad for $20 bucks then why not? Yota rads are a dime a dozen, at least in my neck of the woods. And if you have any sort or fab skills you can make anything work.
I dunno I guess I'm just cheap.

Ok, I've got an update. I looked into Autozone's radiators for my 94 4x4 22re manual and all of the options there are really cheap... around $135. but they are all aluminum and plastic, so no thanks. I priced the 3 core copper and brass radiator that club member xylicon posted a link to and that radiator seems like a perfect fit for me after measureing. The rep from Radiatorbarn said the part number I gave him for that radiator stated it was a heavy duty model for a 2wd truck, but after I insisted it has been used in 4x4s with great success by members, he looked closer and realized it was for 4wd /manual trans models as well. The only hitch is that the price has gone up from around $150.ish to $235. Doh! To be honest though, that is in the best price range from all other competitors (1800radiator) that I have found for a quality built radiator, so I'm thinking I'm going to pull the trigger on it. The price hike makes sense with the current cost of copper etc. going up up up. I really appreciate the help finding a good one that seems to be working well for so many members. Now its time to buy a fan clutch. Take care.

I also went with the radiator barn 3 row one.
I would never put a used radiator in any of my vehicles just for the labor costs alone. Let alone not knowing how it was treated during it`s lifetime.
If I had a Auto Trans I would run a separate cooler just to be safe:wabbit2:

Slacker, I tried to get somebody on the phone to check out that radiator you posted, but was unable to reach anyone. I left a message and am waiting to hear back. The sooner the better on this one, because my truck is down and shipping time from Cali to SC is going to be awhile as well. It sounds like you are affilliated with them, so any help getting through would be greatly appreciated. I do have a few questions about the radiator. Would it fit a 94 pickup 4x4 22re /manual trans? Also, does the radiator go down lower than the core support frame? I was looking at mine and it looks like there is roughly 5 inches or so of open space below my current radiator that wouldn't hurt to fill with more radiator and still be behind the frame. I just don't want it to sit too low and be subject to taking a hit if the truck bottomed out hard off road. Take care.

I ordered a radiator from radiatorbarn.com and the total was $256. shipped to my door. I was going to order the one Slacker mentioned, but I was in a rush and didn't hear back from them until the end of the work day. The person I spoke with on the phone was very nice and still offered information on his radiators for fit even though he knew I had already ordered one. They stay busy over there and that is why they answer calls toward the end of the day, so anyone considering one of their radiators, they will get back to you... just be patient. I just needed to get my parts ordered today lickidy split to insure getting back on the road asap!
The one I ordered from radiatorbarn.com should be here in 2 days. It may be an even $232. for others, but I had to pay SC sales tax. I hope this helps others in there radiator quest. I will update after a year of running the new radiator. Until then take care.

The Charleston, SC warehouse was out of stock on my radiator, so Radiator barn told me it would take two days to get it to my doorstep from another location. It showed up in one day all the way from Virgnia to South Carolina. Kudos to Radiator Barn! Awesome service!
