Quick TPS question

In the process of trying to diagnose my problem I checked the tps sensor voltages at the connector. Everything checked out except for VTA to E2 I get 0 voltage open or closed. I checked it at the ECU and I am getting the proper voltages open and closed. Does this meen that I have to run a wire from the ECU harness to the TPS? Thanks again.

First off, you should be checking for proper resistence(ohms) and/or continuity, not for correct voltage if your testing the TPS.

Next, if the ECU appears to be recieving the proper electrical signal from the sensor, why then are you wanting to fix a problem that doesn't exist.

VTA-E2 resistence changes as the TPS is actuated, less resistence when closed/more resistence when open. It should never be none or infinite.

Which engine are we talking about by the way? Not that it matters, just curious.

Your welcome too...I guess.

Resistance of the TPS checked out fine. I was trying to figure out if the wiring from the ECU to the TPS was ok. I could get the proper voltages everywhere on the connector except from VTA to E2. It turned out that it does get power when it is plugged in though. 92 4Runner 22RE 4WD Thanks again MudHippy
