Quick questions before replacing transmission solenoids
(1986 4runner, 4cyl, EFI)
As the title suggests, i'll be dropping the pan on my 1986 4runner and replacing all the solenoids while i have chance, but i have a few quick questions.
First off, my situation is this: As with a lot of older 4runner owners whose problems I've read about, such as this guy:
http://www.toyotaholics.com/support/...sp?TOPIC_ID=19
my 4runner does not shift correctly anymore. It goes directly from 1st into what i believe is 3rd and barely has any power from that point on. From what i've gathered, it's not uncommon for one of the transmission solenoids to die, and i've been told to go ahead and replace everything down there while i'm at it.
1) I was recommended to buy all three solenoids together from this website:
http://www.bulkpart.com/Merchant2/me...roduct_Count=0
as they are much cheaper than trying to order them through a company like autozone. I was just looking for a little more affirmation from more experienced buyers that this is a good call? and if somehow i picked the wrong transmission (i believe my 4runner has the A430F)
2) I can't for the life of me find the replacement LED for the overdrive light cluster. I know this is used to diagnose problems, especially the one i'm having with my 4runner, but i'm fairly confident i've narrowed down the problem to the solenoids. The light is a little LED with a green rubbery plastic sleeve over it, and has a round plastic used to fit into the cluster. I've been to half a dozen shops around town, none have it. Or if anyone thinks i can't be sure of the solenoids and replacing them without diagnosing exactly would be very stupid
Any help is greatly appreciated, i'm trying to order these very soon as i only have one week next week during spring break to fix my 4runner.
I'd also be happy to do a photo write up of this as i know there are probably a number of other people with this same problem looking for answers like i was
thanks again
