Quick question about replacement steering wheel
Looking to replace the steering wheel in my 1986 4runner. I have been hearing that the steering wheels form most older model Toyota's will fit (celica, supra, tercel etc...). Is this true, or will the search for one in good condition be a loss? What years will cross over?
any help would be great!
cheers,
je

i got a grant steering wheel w/"nr-g"s quick release
great theft prevention and the 13" wheel makes my turning much faster.
the thicker grip is much better to hold onto as well.
i would only keep a stock wheel if it had radio, and other buttons on it.

somebody told me that all 79 and newer toyota wheels will fit. not figuring that the new new ones have airbags and controls that wont work on your rig, that leaves 79-mid 90s in most cases. i personally have found the 79-83 sr5 wheel to be the best looking stocker. for $7 i couldnt pass it up for my 92 2wd. splines are the same, all that. fit on. doesnt stick out from the column as far. grip is a bit thicker. diameter seems about the same. i love it so far.
bad side, horn button on each spoke. looks old school cool, but those kinda kill it. also, i dont know what happened, but i put it on and the first few times left to right i heard some pops and snaps...now my turn signal switch wont reset itself after i stop turning. i dont care, it didnt work that well before. the horn buttons did work, but i think my relay took a dump. never worked that often before anyways. so, those are the bad sides...i dont care. not enough to bother me. i need an alignment though, going straight its off to the left a bit. ill get a picture soon.
