for questions on fan installs (for 22re)
I installed the normal OEM fan on my 22RE
ya its not the nice whatever... but its pretty simple
it does not require the removal of the radiator, but it would be easier without it there. If you already have your hoses for the radiator installed, I would not remove it, but if you planned on replacing them anyway, might as well take it out, as only 4 bolts hold it in.
Yes, obviously you have to remove the fan shroud. However, when you are putting the fan on, make sure that the shroud is behind the fan on the engine block. It will make putting on the fan shroud a hell of a lot easier and it doesnt get in the way of installing the fan.
There are 4 10mm bolts that hold the fan in. Well, they are acutally nuts attatched to studs that are threaded into the fan clutch. If you have the stock fan clutch, there are no worries, just tighten the nuts down. If you have an OEM or replaced fan clutch, put a 10mm nut on the back of the thread that sticks out to make sure that you don't unscrew the stud.
If you are replacing the fan clutch as well (don't know why you would but...) you have to use vice grips to remove the studs without hurting the threads.
Aside from that, replacing the fan is rather simple.
I have a spare OEM fan in CA if anyone is interested. I would sell it cheap cuz i don't need it...
