Question About Ignitors ?.
I want to know if ignitors used on most toyota 4 cylinder engines are the same ?, other than the diferent plugs on the wires could they be made to work in our trucks (22RE) by swapping the plugs from an old ignitor onto another one ?. ive never taken an ignitor a part to compare them but i would think they would all be the same for the most part.

potentially, yes... kinda like my motorcycle has a part number for the upper steering head bearing, and it is physically the same part as the lower bearing for another motorcycle, but the other motorcycle has a different part number.
when you get into the world of ignition components, even slight changes in the ignition coils can require different ignitors, and even though they may work for a while, little things might change how long it lasts, etc.

Typically with toyota trucks and 4Runners, as long as you have the coil AND ignitor assy, the only differences are the plugs. If you can overcome that large obstacle, they will work. We have changed plugs at work to run vehicles with damaged ignitors and make 91 truck ignitors work in everything from camrys to mr2's

Are you looking at using a different 22re ignitor?
I have a 83(22r) and the ignitor just went out one day on the trail (truck just died and it killed the coil to) I ended up getting one from Toyota at the cost of just under 300$ and found out later that I could have used an MSD box or a chevrolet ignitor (like 40 bux). Now I am working on putting a 22re in my truck and my brand new ignitor is going to be a paper weight. What are you trying to do and we can help better?
