Q: Classic Fuel Line Rot
THe "RN" series of IFS trucks are notorious for "fuel line rot".
Well after 15+ years this isnt too surprising.
The fuel lines rot above the tank and along the tank and frame rail... where its not easy to see and nigh on impossible to see and a bear to repair (until you drop the tank).
Anyone know if there are stainless lines available?
Or its it a "grin an bear it" repair job and use "good" new lines and just fix it...

(over due update)
I had a local shop work on it for me.
They
Dropped the tank
Installed new OEM hard lines
If I recall - the had to also deal with the "tank input" part - I think the either got a new one or brazed / fixed it.
This repair was done just prior to the truck going into storage - circa 2008
Now that I am running rear seats - its actually EASIER to pull the tank access panel to see what is going on.

That's wierd you would think the rear seats would make it more difficult to access panel.
Funny i didnt know they had an access panel when I did my fuel pump (died in the middle of a mud pit!) right after I filled the tank of course I dropped tank to replace it! Lol so glad to be on YT makes things soo much easier to have an idea how to do something BEFORE diving in the wrong way head first!
Thanks for the update! Better late then never! Bet that was one fat bill all new OEM fuel lines talk about doin it right tho!

I had the load shelf. So, if you want to access the panel. you "could" flip the load shelf forward (its actually bolted to a hinge similar to the seats), BUT, the shelf has a lip, so you can't really reach the access panel with the shelf just flipped up, you have to basically remove the shelf.
Also - the rear edge of the self is BOLTED to the lower mount point that the seat back uses (if I recall).
SHELF
- empty rear
- pull back the cargo mat
- unbolt the two bolts in the rear corners of the shelf
- unbolt the two hinges
-- remove the shelf (its big and bulky)
SEATS
- get in the drivers side rear seat
- flip the passenger seat forward
