PS Pump Pulley -92 V6 4Runner
How do you remove the pulley from a 3.0 PS Pump? I got the nut off that holds it to the shaft no problem, but I can't seem to budge the pulley. Are there any tricks/tips to remove this thing?

Jason,
Use a pickle fork or a tapered pry bar between the housing and the hub of the pulley. A few taps and it should pop off. Don't put pressure on the pulley outside edge or it will bend. The pulley is lightly pressed on and rust will tend to seize it in place.

Wouldn't that bend the pulley?
PS- STILL not off. The worst part is this one has to come off to get the pump out to replace with my replacement pump, which also has the pulley stuck on it!
It's amazing how the "simple" things always take so long on these trucks!

Here's an idea. Cut a 2x4 about a foot long and then cut off the end at a 45 deg or greater angle, widthwise. Then you could cut out a slot about an inch wide lengthwise and you have a thick pickle fork. Try tapping that over the shaft. No idea if this would work and I'm sitting in an airport right now so I can't look at my truck and see if it would. Should only take a few minutes with a circular saw.
I've had good luck with a regular ball joint pickle fork placed right next to the shaft between the pulley and housing. But a 2x4 would act on both sides of the pulley and may work better. Good luck,

Does the new pump have a new pulley on it? You can remove and install these pumps with the pulley still on. I did it on my '93 because I couldn't get the pulley off.

It rained here most of the day today, and I'm doing this in my driveway, so I didn't even look at it.
I'm going to go to autozone tomorrow and pick up a pickle fork. All the pry bars I tried (and I have like 20 of them in various sizes) didn't work. It didn't even budge last night.
BUT, tomorrow is another day...
