Proper Head Installation

Just got done rebuilding my 22re engine. I got my new head today, Just needed to know if theres anything special I have to do when putting on my head gasket. Someone told me that you put silicone around the frount and back of the head and or gasket and then bolt it down. Is that true or do you just sit the head directly on the gasket and bolt it down.

I would put a little silicone on the front where the timing cover and block meet, and across the top of the timing cover..I have heard of some people doing the whole thing, but I would not

Ghost boy..........I hope you have a manual you are going by for this installation. You should. If you do, that should tell you exactly where to put silicone. I just forget at the moment, myself.

You can find the FSM link on the first page of this forum, but here's the page you need:

http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b.../7cylinder.pdf

See EG1 - 33. The place to put silicone is on either corner of the front face of the cylinder block.......deckside.
