The Project begins

Well I bought my first toyota, I thought it was a steal at only $800. Had no compression on cylinder 1 so I found a motor that I was able to tear apart and take a look it and it seems decently sound for only $350 and the swap will be done within 2-3 days but I'll keep pictures posted on my progress. Also within the next 1-2 weeks will be sanding and priming with a flat black primer. And since the interior is well let's just say its lacking it - I am going to try this new badliner in 2 weeks and do the whole inside.

So here's the heavily used engine I just bought on the 20th.

Welcome to the addiction! Keep us posted on the build and as an FYI you will soon find out that these things are really easy to work on and you'll save a ton of money by doing the work yourself. I know I did.

Yeah it is just kind of hard finding the time to do all this when I work 4pm-4am monday-saturday. So all I got done today is cleaning all the gunk out and tomorrow I am painting the block to reduce the chance of rust and maybe pulling out the old 22R. Thanks for the interest in my first project ever.

They are real easy to work on. I have two going on right now and somehow keep up with them lol. You will enjoy it and if you have any questions feel free to ask. I'm sure someone can answer it. Good luck

Well, I just ran into a problem. I think it would be pretty simple but not to sure. My truck is fuel injected, the engine I bought is carburated - Can't I just switch the manifold and intake from my old fuel injected 22R to the new one to keep my fuel injection?

Thats correct. You can't swap the heads because the 22re was built with flat top pistons and the 22r was built with domed but you can swap the intake manifold and exhaust manifold between the two. Your all good.

The 1st picture is my old engine with the EFI removed and alot of other good stuff that needed moved to the new engine to swap into fuel injected from carbureted.

The 2nd picture is the new engine with all that junk attached to it.

the 3rd picture was all leftover un-needed that I took off I am putting up for sale.

WONT ALLOW ME TO UPLOAD PICTURES KEEPS SAYING INVALID PAGE AFTER TRYING TO LOAD. WILL TRY TO GET THE PICTURES UP ASAP.
