Pro Comp Skid Plate

i recently purchased a pro comp skid plate for my truck because it looked empty up front ever since i installed my five inch lift. but the problem is that the skid plate seems to be about 1/2" too short. im gonna make mounting brackets to put it on but i just was seeing if anyone else has had this problem?

you're putting a pro comp skid plate on a pro comp bracket lift kit, right?
I ask 'cause pro comp didnt make a 5" lift kit for the IFS trucks so didn't make a skid plate that size

otherwise, I suggest bolting up the front to the member behind the bumper, then the other end. I recently purchased one used (pro comp skid for pro comp 4" lift) and it didn't look like it would fit, but actually fit fine once it was "loosely" mounted and then tightened up.

the ProComp skid is specifically for their lift kit. Others use different means to accomplish lift that don't always play well together. ProComp went with drop brackets that were about 4" tall and didn't modify upper or lower arms. Rough Country, IIRC, went with about 3" bracket drops and supplied new upper arms that acted like BJ spacers and had to crank the t-bars to accomplish their lift.

You found out different mfrs do things differently when the bottom worked but the top didn't. I bet you could put bolts in the top and find the bottom doesnt work too- you probably tried.

If you can make it fit, I say why not? As long as it looks good and not redneck engineered- go for it.

Rough Country doesn't replace the upper arms. It only has the drop brackets. Since RC didn't make a skid plate for their lift, I ended up having one fabbed. Soon, it's all going away for a solid front (finally).
