power steering air control valve 93 4Runner SR5

Hello, i have been reading the forums which I found maybe one or two relevant posts on the power steering air control valve.

We purchased this 1993 4Runner 4x4 SR5, (not sure the gen) 3.0l 6.0. i believe!

We aren't sure if the hoses were misrun from the power steering into the crankcase, till we read a forum where someone else had one that was blowing smoke when turning on, and it was the air control valve. Spitting out fluid, and i imagine, if its an air control valve that it would be spewing fluid because it is broke. And if it was a good one would be spewing air. That's an assumption of course, as we aren't toyota mechanics, till now with our first. So we ordered a new one, since might as well rather than plug it up, as someone else had recommended. We figure if its something we can figure out, might as well redo it.

The good news is that the guy thought it was a head problem and we got a discount on the head issue. But its not the heads, as when we disconnected, it no longer blew the smoke.

So we get the new air control valve, we are looking at the hoses and where to replace them back to, as to make sure they are correctly.

None of the links are working for any of the manuals we've found in the forums. And the manual we have does not tell us where those two hoses go. Some have shown a hose, connecting one end of the control valve to the other. But we haven't seen any manuals with a proper configuration and i figure someone around here might know or help us with a photo or a live link to the proper manual.

Thanks so much.

Just so you know, there is no order to the two lines; you can hook them up either way. The "air control valve" is just a switch that connects the plenum to unmetered air; more air in the plenum raises the idle.

DO let us know if this works (because if it doesn't, you've got something else going on).
