Possible newbie gear question

In the process of deciding which gears I want for my rig. I'm thinking 5:29 just because I love low gears. My question is, can I use my stock third member that currently has 410 gears and replace the ring and pinion with the 529? Just covering my bases before I get this all done.

I was wondering the same thing. I am.looking at 35s and I was wondering if 5.29s where to small for a 4cyl and if the 3rd member would hold up or if there is like a nod-iron replacment.

You can reuse your current 3rd members and just re-gear them. The only one's you can't re-gear are the Toyota factory 4.88's. 5.29's are perfect for 35's. I have run 5.29's and 35's on many yota's, all with 4cyl.

Youll need a new crush washer, which should come in a bearing/install kit. Or its a great time to switch to a solid pinion spacer. Tad harder to set up, but wont loosen over time. Good time to add a locker too, you know, while youre in there.

TG sells the solid spacers

Nitro or G2 Gear are the recommended brands. I have a couple links on how to install new 529 gears on my website.
