Possible new dd/ project

Well a buddy of mine just called me and ask if I would help sell his 88' v6 4 runner. After talking to him I think i've decided i'm gonna buy it from him. It was painted camaro burnt orange about 2 years ago and the 3.0L was rebuilt 5k ago. He parked it because the front 3rd member is busted and the clutch slave cyl. broke on him. He was going to SAS it but had another kid....ya'll know how that goes.

My question is could I still drive it around in 2wd with a busted up diff ? I can get this thing for stupid cheap(under 600!) and I think it be a cool dd that I could sas like my crawler down the road. Also what kind of mileage are the 3.0L getting?

Even with manual hubs I'd pull the front axles, diff, and drive line. Especially if you're going to be cutting the IFS crap off anyway.

That's the plan, or if it's cheap enough fix the thing so I can have an extra winter dd. I'm tired of putting miles on my diesel along with the cost of driving that thing daily My other toy isn't street legal/ worthy so it be nice to have a little hunting truck also

600 dollars! Your a damn fool if you don't buy that! Seriously 2nd gens around me rarely go under the 3000 mark and are covered in rust and most of the time have mechanical issues as well.

well I'll have 600 after I buy a new clutch cylinder, oil change, and a few odds and ends! Then about 850 after I pick up these wheels and tires
for it. I figure if the 3.0 blows up I can either part it out or drop a 4.3L vortec in it
