pooched and STUCK zerk .... hep me hep me !!

one of my grease zerks has decided to go south on me (ie it won't hold grease in; it would seem i've lost my ball ) so i figured "no biggie", i'll just replace it ... WRONG ... she's good and stuck; does anyone know if they're just press-in fittings, or are they threaded. ANY help would be more helpful than the smartass remarks coming my way right now. thanks

If you shear the zerk off, an easy out works like a charm getting the remainder out.

Your not supposed to use a Lance Armstrong zerk, that's your first problem.

Have you tried heat, penetrating oil (PB Blaster), tapping it with a hammer lightly then vice-grips?? It would help to know which zerk.

I'm pretty sure they are 8mm heads but the zerk itself is M6x0.75 fine thread

Heat and an 8mm should do it.

it's out

thanks for everyone's input; thinking about the heat thing, i realized it's just a temperature differential thing between the 2 metal parts, so i tried freezing the fitting with an inverted can of electronics duster ("canned air"); worked like a charm; it just about fell out. thanks again everyone

Good trick too, they sell a spray called freeze off that does the same thing
