Last night I was on my way home from town when my CD player starting flickering as if it was losing power then finally completely shut off. Shortly after I had realized my RPM's and speed was dropping pretty fast all of a sudden. I shifted down from fifth gear, which I was just in for about 10 miles, into 4th with no luck. It had just acted like I was getting no gas. I heard a small pop sound then tried 3rd and still had no luck. Once I got to 2nd I had finally gained power again. Then after about 5 seconds of power I heard another small pop and my truck bogged down to a stop. It kept running with no problem and still fires up fine as well as no problems with the headlights lights and dome lights working just fine. I just don't seem to be getting any gas. I'm really thrown off about this problem. I wanna say it is probably an electrical problem but maybe not? If anyone has any ideas of what I could try before having to take it to the shop it would be appreciated. Thanks!

I just went back down to my driveway to see if it would run. It started and did just fine in first gear going up my driveway for abut 100 yards then bogged down to a stop after the CD player turned off again. I put it in neutral and backed back down and the idle kept getting slower and slower the longer it ran and finally the engine shut off. I found out that the headlights and dome lights were a lot more dim than usual after it had came to a stop.

Check and clean battery cables, put a battery charger on the disconnected battery and charge it for several hours. Load test the battery.
These simple things will get you well on your way toward diagnosis of your trouble.

Sounds like timing chain is jumping teeth (if equipped)...

Starting/Charging system malfunction is possible based on symptoms.

Any warning/malfunction lamps illuminated..?

Timing Chain "Jumping" is possible but rare. Coupled with electrical issues its more unlikely but still possible I suppose.
