Please Help

1995 4runner idling wild and throwing some black smoke I own a 1995 runner 3.0L. The truck has been running great.. It got really cold last night.... I went to start the truck using the the clutch cancel button./ It started but was running rough, when I came back outside it was jumping from 400-500rpm up to 1200rpm back and forth kinda sputtering a little, and throwing some black smoke. When I get in and drive away, it ran alot better, no check engine light, anything.. Now the truck wont start unless I give it gas and it will die if I let off the gas pedal...... Any ideas?

Throttle body blade could be sticking. If you have easy access it, remove the air intake hose, open the blade and clean the bore in the area where the blade sits when it is not powered. Especially the sections closest to the shaft on both sides. You can use carb cleaner.

I wouldn't use starting fluid. My 3.0 v6 did the same thing when my tps went out, so you might want to check that.

It is runny like a top

Okay this is weird.. Truck sounded like it was on its last leg yesterday... I go out start it, of course it wont start without giving it some gas.... Then it struggles blows out heaps of smoke, and then takes an idle still running a little rough but not nearly as bad.. I decide to drive it to the autoparts store runs fine.. Idles a little low when I restarted... I get home shut it off, then I try to start it with no gas just turn the key, fires right up to the perfect RPM, doesnt rone rough at all... No smoke... I drove it, start it, and restarted it everything seems to be back to normal... Did I just blow off some carbon build up or what???/ Has anyone had this happen before????
Thanks for all the input.... Everyone.. .
