Pinion gear and/or differential messed up... or is it?

So I am pulling away from a stoplight when my truck starts making this awful noise coming from the rear. Sounded like I had a plastic trash can or something stuck between my tire and wheel well. I pull over and do a visual inspection all around and under my truck... Cant see anything wrong right away and the sound was only occurring when I would starts driving. Called a tow truck to have it towed to my house and my buddy and I came to the conclusion that I had sheared my pinion gear or at least knocked some teeth off.

Started tearing into it ... Got the axles off and I started to disconnect the drive shaft from the differential housing when I noticed that the drive shaft was moving up and down.

Turns out one of the bolts from the driveshaft center support had worked its way out and the other bolt was really loose allowing the driveshaft to rub on the metal bracket below.. $4.00 fix

Moral: Don't be dumb like me.... Haha
