Pickup Torsion Road Installation Question...
I can't find this anywhere. Here's a pic of the broken torsion rod on my '94 2WD pickup:
It came apart fairly easily, but I want to make sure I disassemble the broken end properly. The other side looks like this:
Am I seeing the back of the torsion rod? Can it be pressed out or is there some other trick to removing it? It's too hard to tell what's going on. Old paint, rust, etc. I don't want to break anything that doesn't need to be broken.
Ideas, opinions, etc. much appreciated!

there should be a small hole in the center of where the broken piece is. pull the rubber boot off by the tabs and try knocking the broken piece out from the other side with a BFH and something small enough to fit in the hole. you could always try drilling the hole a little bigger too but i wouldnt go very much.

Thanks Robert - that is a very helpful picture! All the instructions say the same thing: unbolt this, unbolt that, but never much about the real details that you need to know in order not to break things.

Frank, here's another thing to consider. People often have those parts (torsion bars and the front and back female-splined things) left over after SAS's. Since yours look pretty rusty you might consider picking up a set from someone. I know that I have thrown those things away before...

I just tried to hammer the broken rod out with a BFH, even drilled the hole larger and used heat (MAP gas) - no luck. How do I make my needs known? This one is pretty stuck and there's no reason to believe the other side will be any better.
I have a new set of rods from sway-a-way (I think that's the name) but the ends? Maybe start another thread?
thanks,
Frank
