I would just bust out your rear window.......LOL just kidding...kind of.
I would just find a 4-runner rear gate and take the window out, there u go, or just leave the window down like someone said. but it would be cold with out a window.
it would be a lot easier then trying to fab something up.
Or you could just bob the rear, leave it open....LOL and make a canopy/cover

Since you're gonna have to lower the window eventually to get the gate open I'd just as soon get another, functional gate and oil spray it. You can't just break the glass because the lock will not release until the regulator is fully down.
I can sympathize with the sticky window situation; mine had the same issue when I bought it. I used prybars to get it to drop initially, then removed the regulator and soaked it for 2 days in oil. Took some time, but it free'd up.

or you can crawl inside and remove the trim panel . remove the for bolts to the motor assembly and drop the entire unit to a manageable height . use some pb blaster on the track or just drill out the runner wheel till it drops. or just break it

I think he wants it like an actual tailgate though, right? Like, sit on it and use it as a cargo extension tailgate? wouldn't be all that much fab work if you know how to weld, I wouldn't think. Plus it'd be cool as hell!

No he lives in canada like me and you can't get a tail gate that is not rotten through for less then a grand. He wants to get rid of the rusted gate that is unrepairable.

yup.. no need for one when im gonna garage it or cover it when its parked... only get ridin to the trails... i might just fix the rust on my gate and weld a new peice of metal like a tail gate with no window if that makes sense....
im going to take a look at my buddys truck and see how different the mounts are..
by the way all the mods in my sig im going to be taking pictures of.... just scraped off the mud from when i had to get towed 4km out of the bush by a jeep asfter 233km the original clutch went.. and a tree stump took out a brake line..

I didn't realize you were so close to me. Let me get ahold of a bud at another shop. He bought a tailgate for $250, mint shape, imported from Japan. I think he picked it up in Mississauga.
