Can anyone help me find the location of the PCV valve on an '88 runner with the 3VZE? I have looked in the haynes manual and all i can seem to find is the location for the 22RE. Thanks a bunch.

Passenger side valve cover, under the intake plenum. Some say to take off the plenum, others get to it with a LONG pair of needle nose pliers.

PCV Replacement: (20 - 30 minutes).
Before you begin, make sure you have a set of long needle nose pliers (LONG - maybe foot long or longer with curved up end if possible). Don't start 'til you've got 'em. I even went back for a longer pair for the next time I change it.
PCV Location: Passenger side under Plenum: directly beneath the second "T" in ToyoTa imprinted on plenum (at least it was for mine).
Raise (6" - 8 ") 2WD truck up on ramp on passenger side only. For this short man (5’6”), this will change the angle you are working to your sight advantage and less back strain. Also, you will need a good light source (drop light) as this is an area that light is not going to reach without assistance.
Use 12 mm wrench to loosen/remove fuel line (be careful not to drop the aluminum washers).
After numbering/marking the various vacuum hoses (approximately 7 - at least it was helpful for this ole man) blocking the PCV, pull them off their pipings and move them out of the way.
Note: PCV Hose from plenum to the PCV is shaped almost like an "S" or actually more like a "?".
Use LONG needle nose pliers to remove PCV hose followed by the PCV (rock the PCV back and forth while pulling it up to remove).
Reverse procedures for replacement.
Note: When changing the grommet, attaching hose to PCV with retaining clamp and then inserting it into PCV grommet may be easier to do than attaching hose after PCV has been inserted into grommet.

a quick tip if you're doing a pcv without removing the plenum: pop that grommet into the freezer for a few minutes.. not too long, just enough for it to contract a little bit. use your long needlenose pliers and now that grommet goes in alot easier. then needlenose the pcv into place with maybe a dab of oil to help out.

probably a dozen cardinal sins being commited here, but this worked great for me and no problems in the years since. just make sure to have a good set of extra long pliers, especially the curved "hose puller" shaped one. perfect for this job.

ok i know that the last post was in Feb...but I have a question about that PVC ...the hose can anyone tell me where the other end goes and where to get a hose....some how when i was doing the timing water pump and other things during a routine malignance I lost it...yea I know stupid but I ether lost it or I just left the hose on somewhere were it connects....lol where is it....i know where the PVC valve is but i don't know where the hose connects too....pictures are worth a thousand words if someone could....oh and yea it took me two days to do the job ...lol but now i know how to do a 75% tare down on a 3vze loll Rolf ha ha...it was a trip ....started off with the cam seal leaking turned into a timing belt change then water pump... then the tentioners and valve cover gaskets erg PVC and full tune up....total cost $350...cost if i went to dealer or shop...$1800. love it and love the savings lol and now i am just having a problem with some vacuum lines and my breaks....meaning i lost the use of full breaks because of some type of vacuum leek...the booster is connected right because that's the only way it goes...but when i press the breaks the pedal has some resistance but doesn't stop the truck like it did before i did the timing fix....idol is rough but reving up is so smooth its like i have a new truck ...but at idol...its like i have a 3/4 cam ....lol i like it but i know i don't because its not right.....help please
