parts trucks.... what to do with engine

i have a prts truck that i havent started in about 8 months... i have slowly taken a few things off.. but i would like to keep the engine and tranny as a backup its a 22re and it ran great... so should i drain the fluids?? should i just tear into it?? can i leave it all together?? leave it in the truck???

any help would be sweet.. i have never had a engine that was worth keeping before.. or should i just sell it?

If you can leave them the truck, that would be great. Or a shop, but either way. Just keep them from getting wet. The thread he mentioned recommended storing motors, etc. with fresh oil...full to capacity. They will need to be drained (possibly) when they are run again, but it will keep the internals from rusting and/or freezing up at all.

In my opinion, 22re's are worth keeping if they're not blown. But, I like the 22re and intend to keep driving mine for a long time. Even I ever run across a Toyota diesel, I'll still hang on to it. Great motors. Great transmissions, too.

thats why thook mt parts 4runner was in my family for almost 10 years and the engine just broke 200k and it ran great... 2 deers hit me and toitaled the front quater pannel.... at the same time a guy at my work was selling a sweet clean blue 4runner same year for 1500 as is..... it has a fresh junkyard rebuild... and im not 100 percent sure that its running as good as my old one ...

but yeah i am going to drive a 22re as my winter truck or dd for a very long time unless i get a 4runner diesel...the 22re was onw of the most important things i learned from my father... he was a die hard 4runner 22re man and they havent let us down yet...... he have never blown one.. in canada the bodys rot out b4 the engines...

so im going to do an oil change and keep it full of oil.... and leave it in my truck....

i also plan on taking much of the front end off and powder coating it then installing it on my new 4runner...i suppose even with a mild lift you would still use the factory a arms ball joints + spacers and swany bar and stuff so i would like to paint it all to cure my canadian winter cancer..
