Parking brake front cable questions

First none of the manuals show how to remove it. Any hints on that? appears to have broken near the handle.

Second, a search has not provided the answer to this. What's the difference in the cables for a regular extended cab and a 4x4 extended cab? The parts houses here show cables for the extra cab RWD but have no listings for the 4x4x with the extra cab. Same cable?

This is a 93 Pickup 4x4

Very disappointed in both the Haynes and Chilton manuals that cover these trucks. And the online FSM while better still leaves much to the imagination.

Thanks

Its a pretty straight forward removal and replacement. I did this a year ago and I had the same issue, the parking cable snapped right near the handle.

I used rockauto.com for the replacement cable and I have a 1990 Toyota Pickup Extended Cab 4x4 and the part was:

DORMAN C138653 Parking Brake Cable $ 25.79

There is a couple of threads on this topic which might give you insight on the instructions but its pretty much follow the parking cable from the cab to the firewall and then under the truck and replace it.

Make sure you remove the parking brake sensor at the end of the handle, and depress the metal clips which will allow the handle to slide a little further down. Then you can pop the end of the cable out. You will also need to remove the plastic rotating wheel that the cable slides on so you can get the cable out.

Thanks guys. The local O'Reilly parts joint had a cable in stock so picked it up and swapped it out. Took about 1.5hrs as I'd never done one on a Toyota PU before.

Biggest issue for me was the cable routing around the engine up against the firewall.... not much room with that V6 and I've got very large hands.... The rest was easy.

Thanks Hgill for the part number info. It allowed them to cross reference to the one they carry.
