p/s pump rebuild

I have a 93 v6 pickup. Just drove it across the country and now need to replace the power steering pump bearing and seals. I have found rebuild kits and would like to install one. I have no experience doing this though and my book doesnt show the prodedure. Can anyone give me advice or detailed instructions on how to perform this. Thanks.

If you don't know much about the power steering pump and its components. I say you should just get a remanufactured power steering pump and swap out the old one with the new one. That's what I did on my runner. It isn't very hard, just remember to put in ATF and not power steering fluid.

cant get the pulley off

I have disconnected everything but cant remove one bolt since it is hitting the pulley. I have gotten two different tools at advanced auto and neither of them work to pull it.

That's the hardest part sometimes. What worked for me was a crowbar placed behind the pulley, right at the shaft and then twisting the crowbar so that it applied pressure only to the pulley center. My crowbar has a hex shaft which made it easier to twist, I was able to use a wrench on in to do the twisting. Becareful the pulley can bend if you try something like a gear puller!
