Judging by the search engine I'm the only one that has this problem.Turning left is easy" POWER steering!" Turning right takes much more effort but will finally assist.I know it's just a valve in the steering head but how do you fix it?I know nothing about steering haeds.Lucas didnt help.Flushing it was expensive and didnt help.2 out of 3 of my Toyotas do this.A new head is about $1200!Any ideas?

i dont know anything about power steering but if it is good left then possible a hose or something is clogged for it to turn right? that could be completely off but its an idea

A problem with your rotary valve sounds likely.

For future reference, you can do the fluid flush yourself, for the cost of a couple of bottles of ATF. See my writeup here.

Well, I figured it out. I went and bought a new steering head, put it on, and it did the same thing. Then I discovered a bleeder screw on the steering head. So when I bleed all the air out, it was fixed. BTW, NAPA has remans for $300+/-.

Dude, sounds just like a worn steering joint. You know, those little ujoints. Check them first. If you dont have a tilt, you might not have any joints. Otherwise, it would be the torsion bar in the steering box which works the spool valve to give you assist on either side of the ball nut. (basically, a steering box)
