ok do I'm really stuck on trying to solve this problem so I'm asking for some help . my 86 toyota pickup 22rte is overheating. I'm located in the Chicago suburbs so it kinda cold over her right now. the truck blow hot air but as i was driving home the truck started to over heat. when i got home i took the radiator cap off and the radiator was pressurized but when the coolant came out it was cold. so I'm lot any ideas of what it could be?

I changed my thermostat this last week with the same symptoms and it solved it. I'd say start with checking thermo, then plugged rad and then water pump.

overheating

Sorry to hear your troubles, check the t-stat but i would guess maybe a headgasket or head is cracked between valves and pressurizing the cooling system.Any evidence of antifreeze in the oil?

If you've done t-stat.

X2 check oil for coolant and coolant for oil.

Crud builds up in heater coil, get flushed out then gets stuck in headgasket. Then blows it.

You can pressure test coolant system.

It may or may not blow white smoke if headgasket.

If the coolant wasn't hot then I bet it isn't circulating. Probably some blockage that needs to be flushed.

If your trucks still got the original rad you might as well replace it anyway. I got a nice all aluminium one from lowrangeoffroad for $130.

How long have you owned the truck? I've seen people who buy vehicles only to find out the previous owner used Barrs Leak or some other sort of HG sealer which also clogs the hell out of your cooling system.
