check into engnbldr's 261

that's what I'm running, and she pulls steady from about 1500 to about 4500

I had over sized valves, a header and a flomaster 40 series muffler with 2 1/4" pipe the whole way and no cat and the 267 cam and did not like it. Not enough off the line and I had to be at too high of an rpm when going up hills....the powerband with only 125ish ponies was too high in my opinion. 261 all the way

I have the 261c now and the power falls off a cliff at 4500rpm. I now have on a stand a 30 over 22re with EB's rv head and the new 270 cam. I like to let my truck rev and the 261 just doesn't do that, it's a crawler cam.

268 is great if you want it to open up a bit more around 3k. That's what I cruise at so I sprung for it.

Hey are you guys with the 268 or 261 cam running them with ported exhaust with oversized valves and heavy springs, or just with a completely stock head?

I have EB's performance head with oversize valves and 268 cam. Runs great and i still have the stock exhaust all the way to the tail pipe that will be upgraded to a 2" in the near future so i hopefully i will see some more gains. I have to run 89 octane in mine as it slightly pings with 87. No noticeable pinging with the 89 and was very, very slight on 87 but bugged me none the less.

I run factory specs, 5 deg with the connector jumped. I have tried running less than 5 deg but wasnt happy with the performance so i stick with 5deg and 89 fuel. I live in Ca so it may be something to do with our fuel, who knows

guys, olharly, lary, thanks for the info! has anyone ever tried EB's 270/430? The info I got from Ted was that its the MOST performance overall with a stock setup, just wondering if anyone has had a chance to play around with the torque ranges it offers

I set mine up for 9 deg advanced with 89 octane- just for kicks I gave it a full tank of 87 octane, there may be a few factors like winter fuel and cold temp- but no ping and the power seems similar.

Ya mine is going to be very different since I run 35's and 5.29's and 20 over so I believe Ted really knows his way around most any 22 set up if you give him the full run down of what you have done to it and what you intend to do to it he can get you very close to stock performance and mileage

I have mine at 8 degree's advance but not to go past 10 degrees by TED
