opinions on motor swap

so my 3.0 needs a rebuild and i was wondering if it is even worth it to rebuild it with some performance parts or if i sould just swap in a 3.4?

and what has to be done to stuff that 3.4 into my 92 v6 yota pickup?

money difference? is the 3.4 less fussy?

would greatly appriciate some input.

Just do the 3.4 you will be happier with every aspect of it.

check out the engine swap section there every thing you will need to know about the swap in there.

Did mine two years ago, zero regrets.

Andy's site was one of my faves for this: http://www.andrewzook.com/content/view/22/48

3.4 is MUCH less of a... how do you say it... worthless heap of crap.

Your 3.0 is Toyota's fail, hardly makes more power than the 22re, eats a ton of gas and from all the threads i see, i would say its pretty problematic.

Here are the 3.4 specs

3378cc DOHC 24V 9.6:1 V6
190hp@ 4800 rpm
220lb.ft.@3600 rpm
93.5mm bore/82mm stroke

The 3.0
3VZE

HP-150@4800
Torque-180@3400

From what i hear, you will see an increas in gas mileage and obviously power and torque

yeah only reason i bought it was i payed 900 bucks and the frame n cab are not rusted...bed it banged up but thats it. wanted a 22re but couldnt find one that wasnt rotted as i live in maine and yotas tend to fall apart from the winters....damn calcium they use to melt ice in the winter..

but at least im in a better position for the 3.4 swap since i have the 3.0 parts i need to use for the swap...

now all i need is the 3.4 and the rest of the parts..

well at least an LS1 would be resonably priced; just think about all the Cameros in a junk yard... there's got to be PLENTY salvagable ones left, that you could probably use as-is!

LS7, well now you're talking some real $$$$

I bet if you did all the work yourself, you could do an LS1 swap right for $2000 er so... which is as much as I just put into me 22re rebuild, lmao

I had no idea we could post porn on this site!! LOL .....that LS1 Yota is sweet!!!

I wouldn't waste a dime on a 3.0! I just got doen with my 3.4 swap and i've never done anything like it before. Went smooth.. no problems.. no codes!
Take your time and its not bad.. just time consuming.. I did the wiring myself too. EVERYTHING you need to know is in the 3.4 swap section. You gotta dig for it cause every swap is different.. but its all there! Do lots of reading before you go buy things though!

I really wanted to put a 5.3 chevy setup in it, but it just was too much money.. effort etc.. right now. I'm very happy with the 3.4! Nice combo of power and gas mileage.

That LS1 pic is giving me ideas for the future when this truck goes from daily driver to just a toy!

if its a stock horsepower 350 throw it in the yota..
if not..you'll have problems along the lines of axle carnage..

could always look at a 4.3 swap..i've heard people get GREAT mpg's from the stock CPI vortec's....not sure of the horsepower..but i know the 4.3 TBI that i WAS gonna get (it was bored .060)..was making 250hp with stock heads..and i had a set of ported and polished heads..headers..and a high rise intake and a edlebrock 650 carb for it..and i was gonna get a cam along the lines of an outlaw cam..something radical..lmao so i know it would have been hittin 250hp

and its a WHOLE lot easier to do a 4.3 TBI swap than it is to do a 3.4 swap..not as much electronics..

well i thought about throwin a 350 in my yota...i have an extra one that i actually have for sale on this site...no miles on fresh rebuild. all speedpro bearings and rings....new summit 488 488 cam its the 1106 if i remember corretly.

i was just thinking of keeping it toyota ya know...i already have my v8 small pickup swap...plus burning 33's cost more then 245 50's haha

i went threw 3 sets of rear tires in 2 weeks when i finished my s10
