OLD Coast Rd near Monterey CA

So Me My son and the dog went for a little drive , wasnt doing any real wheeling just cruising and shaking the truck up a bit through the dirt road.

This is the first dirt road this 4runner has seen since I installed the 1UZ , nothing really super exciting about the trail just wanted to see if the truck would do ok with a little shake up , and it did . Have been driving it on the freeways and city streets and has been doing great also.

The reciever on the bumper I am making scraped the ground really bad so I think I am going to cut it off and put it in the square tubing instead of under it , which is what I should have done to begin with.
link to bumper build.

scenery was great and we did see a bobcat but it wouldnt stay still for a good picture ..

Can anyone see the bobcat..

I've worked on more than a few cell sites in and around Monterey, down through San Luis Obispo and up through Santa Cruz, and it is surprising how close by such beautiful areas are to civilization.

... and it took me a moment to realize you really meant "bobcat", the feline, instead of "bobcat", the tractor. Mew.

One night a few years ago I was totally blown away by how dark it was. We were at a site down a little closer to Carmel, and it was at night (duh ), and we stepped out of the truck and it was like walking in to a black nothingness. We were afraid to take two steps, that's how dark it was. It took almost 10 minutes for our eyes to adjust to the darkness and then it was totally amazing how many stars we could see once our eyes adjusted to the darkness- stars we didn't even know were there.

Thanks for sharing the pics.

Los burros trail is about 30 miles south of old coast its kinda hard to find but its on los padres forest. Its an old goldmining district and kinda a secret its USFS land so your free to go back there.

If you go down the highway and get on the trail it will loop you back to naciemento ferguson road where you can either go back down to the highway or drop into the army base and hit 101 back.

Its around a 20 mile all on dirt trip depending on the trails you take. I had fun heading out there with friends on rainy days some great views from the top of the mountain too.

Put some headers, and a nice expensive muffler on there... I'd LOVE to hear what it sounds like. if doing what I did to my 3.0 can make it sound like it does, I wonder what it could do to a lex v8 :o

Thats the one. Just be sure to bring enough fuel. There is a gas station in gorda but its like 5 bucks a gallon! no joke.

The main trail is pretty mellow there are some offshoots you can find a bit more challenging stuff and if its raining or has been there are a few deep mud pits around the hunter ligget side. Last time I was up there it actually had snowed so there was some fun crud to play around in.

I have some pics somehwhere. Also on the gorda side you can still find some ancient mining equipment and some shafts if you know where to look. The los burros area actually has alot of old history and since its really hidden away you can still see and enjoy it for yourself. There was a ghost town back there but it burned in a wildland fire.
