Oil smoke on deceleration

Just put a new rebuilt 22re long block in my 91 4runner it runs great i've got about 1000 miles on it so far. It smokes bad on deceleration and that is it doesn't do it on start up or taking off from a stop sign just on decel. just looking for some option of what it could be. did find some oil in the # 3 and 4 intake so i replaced the PCV vavle and and it still smokes.. so any ideas would help i just hope its something simple i might be over looking and not a valve stem seal.....

sounds like bad rings to me
try a cheap fix first before you go tearing down the motor....
1) buy a bottle of engine flush... gunk engine cleaner is typically available from parts stores, but I recommed BG quick clean (check ebay).... run this crap for about 10-15 mins AT IDLE... this will hopefully clean off any crap off the ring packs and free them up so that they will do their job again and reduce oil consumption
2) change the oil immediately after the motor flush... I recommend getting some cheap oil and a cheap filter for a 2nd rinse (for like 5-10 mins) to get rid of the flush (that stuff is evil to oil).... then put in a quality high mileage oil (valvoline maxlife or mobil1 high mileage)

the high mileage oils are not gimmicks... they have seal conditioners, additional detergents, and have been engineered to have better shear resistance.... I suggest going to a 5W40 or 10W40 oil as it is more shear resistant and helps prevent burn off

if that works, then just keep on motoring for now... a motor rebuild or new motor costs money.... it's your prerogative of course

Have you checked your PCV? deceleration is a high vacuum condition, a bad PCV could be passing oil into intake....

lol give it a little time, rings might not have broken in yet. And don't drive it like a grandma or the rings won't seat ever. It's typical for a new or rebuilt engine to burn a little oil. Your not running synthetic are you? Mine has about 10K on it now and it was doing this but, seems to be clearing up.

ok i'll give it some time and see if it starts to get better....if the PCV valve was bad i don't no how long it would take to get rid of any residual oil in the intake that could still be making it smoke....
