Oil Pan Gasket?

I have a 1990 V6 PickUP and my truck is leaking oil pretty bad from the oil pan gasket. So i've been told I either have to pull the motor out or pull the front end of my truck out due to the 4wd. My question is witch is easier and what can I do to make it go easier.

2WD or 4WD? There are threads for both in the forums here. Use the search function.

I posted a 2WD/ATM thread where I explained that unbolting the steering idler is enough.

There's another 4WD/MTM thread that says lowering the front diff and turning the pan 45 degrees is enough.

There is no gasket on the V6. You need to scrape all the old gasket material off and use Form In Place Gasket (FIPG) to seal it back up. If someone used a cork style gasket, that's probably why it's leaking.

Zero issues in 60,000 miles.

The FSM says there's no cork gasket on the oil pan, FIPG only, and the folks in this forum agree. No cork when I pulled my oil pan last week. Return that gasket, get your money back.

Also, the folks here mostly seem to agree that RTV isn't the best. There are differing opinions about what the best is, but most seem to say Toyota FIPG, or Permatex Ultra Grey, or Hylomar, or a few others.

Drop the diff to get to the pan, & take those pieces of FelPro cork back. I used them because some PO bent the windage tray, & I don't think it will seal with FIPG. Dealing with the 2 gaskets was a major PITA.

If you remove the studs from the axle flanges, the diff dropps out with little problems.

Do it right, or just live w/ the leak.
